TOP TEN Spaces of 2019 - Dramatic BEFORE/AFTER photos of HouseLift's Interior Design Projects

Of course, we have a special place in our hearts for every single project we do. So although it was difficult to choose, we’ve gathered a list of our top ten favorite room transformations of 2019. We are so grateful to you and every one of our incredible clients who make it possible for us to do what we love! We love to help people love the home they live in. This past year has been filled with projects that have challenged and inspired us. Each one has given us a unique opportunity to customize a space for our clients to enjoy and truly live in each and every day.

Check out the BEFORE/AFTER photos and project details. Here they are in no particular order. Don’t make us choose our favorite - we love them all! Enjoy!

ONE || Rustic Retreat - Master Bedroom

How gorgeous is that wood ceiling?! When our client expressed their desire for a cozy, semi-rustic master bedroom, we knew right away that a wood plank ceiling was just the thing to elevate this room while maintaining a cozy vibe. This project challenged us in all the right ways, and we think the result was well worth it! The rustic wood is offset by a beautiful custom headboard and custom pillows. The most important part is that our client is thrilled with the result and so are we!

TWO || Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

Talk about STUNNING! When a client decided it was time to renovate their kitchen, we teamed up to create a modern, unique, workable new space with a jaw-dropping aesthetic. The before and afters don’t even do it justice. From the large diamond-patterned backsplash to the custom range hood and oversized island, this room exudes modern, livable elegance. We love it! { CLICK RIGHT ARROW to see the BEFORE }

THREE || Sentimental Home Office

We adore this in-home office! Our client is from New York and wanted an office that reflected her sense of style. Since space was limited, we decided to make a big statement with a mural of the city she loves. We wanted the space to feel feminine yet neutral since it shares space with the adjoining dining room. The geometric rug grounds the floating desk and chairs to create a space that is cozy, classy, and one-of-a-kind. { CLICK RIGHT ARROW to see the BEFORE }

FOUR || Cozy Guest Suite

This guest bedroom exceeded our expectations! When we turned this former kid’s bedroom into a guest suite, the result was even better than we had envisioned. Every aspect of this room came together to create a space that is distinctive, comfortable, and relaxing. We painted our client’s old bed in a deep navy blue and covered it in gorgeous, plush pillows that would welcome any guest to stay a while. Every detail was carefully thought of, right down to the quirky bedside stand for reading glasses. { CLICK RIGHT ARROW to see the BEFORE }

FIVE || Modern Dining Room

We adore live edge details and this one is giving us life! Our clients have a beautiful home they had renovated that just needed some tweaking to complete the comfortable, modern aesthetic they wanted. The oversized, family-friendly table and bench welcome guests to gather for meals and conversation as they enjoy the warm glow of the modern light fixture above. The fireplace, mantel, and doors were painted in contrasting colors to add interest and depth, and the floors were refinished to a more neutral brown tone. The result is an eclectic, modern dining room with gobs of character and charm! { CLICK RIGHT ARROW to see the BEFORE }

SIX || Serene Master Bathroom

Talk about a stunner of a bathroom! We’ve seen people get carried away when designing a bathroom, trying to add interest and detail but mistakenly pushing towards gaudy and overwhelming. We believe that beauty lies in the small details and simplicity of a space. That’s why we’re in love with the subtle, textured shower tiles and the herringbone patterned floor. The details are elegant and understated. And the tub! We could soak in that gorgeous freestanding tub any night of the week!

SEVEN || Master Bedroom Loft

We adore this charming master bedroom! Our client’s eclectic, modern style and affinity for unusual art inspired us to transform this attic space into an inviting retreat. We painted the walls, ceiling, and trim in the same fresh white which helps the slanted ceilings feel more spacious. We added interest and texture with a custom headboard, vintage inspired area rug, and unique tribal art and pillows. The custom built-in wardrobe was painted a dramatic dark greenish blue and brass hardware was added. Now the space feels fresh and special. This is the perfect example of how designer/client collaboration can create a one-of-a-kind space with personal touches AND universal appeal! { CLICK RIGHT ARROW to see two views of this new and improved space! }

EIGHT || Heart of the Home Kitchen

Check out the change! Before this kitchen was updated, it felt dark and in need of some TLC. Our clients love to cook (so much so that they own restaurants) and have family and friends over for large gatherings, so we knew the best way to make an impact was to open up the entire space to allow everyone to be together. New cabinets, a brand new island, a custom range hood, new wood floors, new backsplash, and new updated lighting all came together to create a kitchen that is more functional for their family and beautiful to boot! The best part? They tested out their new space shortly after it was finished and managed to fit over 60 people for Thanksgiving dinner. We love to see our clients happily living in their new space! { CLICK RIGHT ARROW to see the BEFORE }

NINE || Modern Family Room

When a client already has great style, it makes it so easy to create a stylish space that they love! This family needed a room where they could spend quality time together without feeling like they were tripping over each other to find a seat. We added a custom sectional and two modern accent chairs, centered around a geometric coffee table and grounded with a light, cozy area rug. A pair of blue velvet curtains adds rich warmth and texture while sleek floor and table lamps accentuate the sophistication of the room. It’s now the perfect space for their family to unwind together. { CLICK RIGHT ARROW to see the BEFORE }

TEN || Standout Dining Room

Who says dining rooms have to be formal and serious? When our client gave us the go ahead to have some fun with a bold, yet bright color and some funky wallpaper, we were ecstatic! We brought in a round reclaimed wood dining table surrounded by comfortable chairs that beckon guests to eat and chat for a while. The large cage-style chandelier incorporates more of the rustic element in the room while the large mirror reflects the adjoining office space and adds depth and light. A whole lot of wow in a small space = success!

What an exciting year it’s been! We’ve taken on more projects than ever before, been featured in several publications including Architectural Digest, starred in an episode of HGTV’s House Hunters Renovations, and now moved into a new office space on the historic Marietta Square. Thank you for following our design stories and a huge THANK YOU to our clients - we truly could not do what we love without you. We look forward to even more exciting projects in the coming year.

As 2019 comes to a close, we welcome the new year and wish you and yours a year filled with hope, peace, joy, and new beginnings. May 2020 be the best year yet!
